Logo trend in the high-end awards arena. Take a peek. Both utilize the negative space from the uppercase letter "O" as a background to reverse out a silhouette of the iconic trophies. Elegance, sophistication and exclusivity. Have you seen others?

82nd Academy Awards Logos

If you watched this year's show you may have notice a few of the Academy's logo designs. Above on left, 82nd Academy Awards show logo, and on right, Oscar logo. Both use striking visual contrast of positive and negative space to communicate. This is most appropriate for an industry based in both the visual and verbal worlds. In the design industry we call this Typographic Syntax. The arranging of elements into a cohesive whole. The 82nd logo's individual letterforms are paired and their corresponding interior counters relate to produce a delicate, asymmetrically balanced symbol. More
